30 December  In north Oakland, the Lucy's Warbler was seen again in the same backyard. Sheila Dickey

30 December  In Fremont, a Lesser Nighthawk was reportedly flying around the Visitor Center at Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge during daylight. Take Marshlands Rd off Thornton Ave from Newark to reach the Visitor Center. Gene Valigerney (sp?)

29 December  In north Oakland, the Lucy's Warbler continues in the backyard and has been confirmed by another birder. Sheila Dickey

25 December  In Fremont, a Short-Eared Owl was at Coyote Hills Regional Park, on the grassy slope facing the bay. Over the main pond across from the Interpretive Center were 5 Redheads and 16 Tree Swallows. Matthew Dodder

25 December  In Berkeley, a Burrowing Owl was on the breakwater on the north side of Cesar Chavez Park [north of the Berkeley Marina]. Erica Berman

23 December  In Berkeley, two Selasphorus hummingbirds were at the UC Berkeley Botanical Gardens [on Centennial Dr east of campus]. Emily Strauss

22 December  In Alameda, a Short-Eared Owl flushed from the marsh at Elsie Roemer Bird Sanctuary [south end of Crown Memorial State Beach]. In Oakland, a Blue-winged Teal was at Arrowhead Marsh [Martin Luther King Jr Regional Shoreline]. Emily Strauss

16 December  In Oakland, a pair of Blue-winged Teal were in Damon Slough at the end of Edgewater Dr [Martin Luther King Jr Regional Shoreline]. Ken Archibaud

13 December  In Alameda, a Snow Goose and a Ross' Goose continued at the College of Alameda, at the corner of Atlantic Ave & Webster St. John Luther

8 December  In the Oakland hills, an adult Bald Eagle flew east over the Montclair district. Bill Meyers

5 December  In Oakland, a male Eurasian Wigeon, a Barrow's Goldeneye, and several Blue-winged Teal were at Arrowhead Marsh [Martin Luther King Jr Regional Shoreline]. Mike Ezekiel

2 December  In Alameda, a Ross' Goose and a Snow Goose were on grass at the College of Alameda, at the intersection of Atlantic Ave & Webster St. John Luther


CONTRA COSTA COUNTY

21 December  In Richmond, 2 Cattle Egrets were off the Bay Trail between S 51st St [near Bayview exit from Hwy 580] and Shimada Friendship Park. Initially, they were nearer to 51st St, but later they were seen behind the University of California Richmond Field Station. Kay Loughman

12 December  In Richmond, the Canada Warbler was still present at Point Pinole Regional Shoreline. Bo Soderstrom

11 December  In Richmond at Point Pinole Regional Shoreline, an extremely late Canada Warbler, likely an immature male, was found 75 meters east of the entrance kiosk. Park in the muddy lot off Giant Hwy, between the shoreline entrance road and the entrance to the detention center to the north. Follow a small footpath west toward the gate. The bird was feeding low in the eucalyptus, and also joined a small mixed flock. It called frequently. Dan Nelson
