ALAMEDA COUNTY

23 February  In Oakland, the Black-and-white Warbler was still in Lakeside Park at Lake Merritt, in oaks just outside the Childrens Fairyland fence. Kevin Guse, Tony Batist, Andrew Saby

22 February  In Oakland, the Black-and-white Warbler was seen near Childrens Fairyland at Lake Merritt. The usual wintering Cattle Egret was present. Joe Morlan, Jennifer Matkin

22 February  East of Livermore, a bird reported as a probable Gray Flycatcher was at milepost 9.24 on Corral Hollow Rd in a small canyon. [This site would probably be in San Joaquin County. --Larry] The bird was "very pale" and "flicked its tail down." Art Edwards, George Bing

11 & 12 February  In Alameda, a female Phainopepla was at the corner of Encinal & Versailles, feeding on berries in the trees along the side of Encinal Hardware. Elsie Becker

9 February  In Oakland, the Black-and-white Warbler was still near the entrance to Childrens Fairyland at Lake Merritt. Calvin Lou

9 February  In Oakland, a single male Hooded Merganser was in the channel between Lake Merritt and the Oakland Estuary. Carlos Davidson

7 February  In Oakland, the Black-and-white Warbler was seen near Childrens Fairyland at Lake Merritt. John Luther

1 February  In Oakland, the Black-and-white Warbler was seen again, feeding in oaks near the entrance to Childrens Fairyland at Lake Merritt. Mike Feighner

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY

18 February  In Martinez, an apparent immature Yellow-bellied Sapsucker was found at Hidden Lakes Park. Park in the lot at Chilpancingo Pkwy & Morello Ave. Take the path past the playground, which bends left at a soccer goal post. When the path forks, go left. You will be following some blue oaks. The bird was seen in a bright green leafy valley oak and the next bare blue oak. Denise Wight, Steve Glover

5 February  In Walnut Creek, the Harris' Sparrow could not be found at the end of Pine Creek Rd. Kevin Hintsa

4 February  In Walnut Creek, the immature Harris' Sparrow was refound at the end of Pine Creek Rd (off Castle Rock Rd just south of the high school). Kevin Hintsa
